The Minister of Health and Social Services has commended the work of nurses on Montserrat. Dr The Hon. Ingrid Buffong shared this message on May 12, 2026, International Nurses Day.

She was speaking on the What's On Your Mind radio program. Dr. Buffong said: "Just to recognise it is International Nurses Day today and to thank our very incredible nursing team at Glendon and out in the districts. You know, they have been the backbone of health care for so long. We have watched them go through various governments, various situations in terms of the lack, but they never stop trying, and they never stop putting their best foot forward. And just to sincerely thank them for their hard work, their dedication to patient care, and their dedication to 24-hour patient care. I think they're an incredible team."
The day is part of Nurses Week running from May 10th to the 16th, under the theme "Our Nurses, Our Future, Empowered Nurses Save Lives."
